Just Another Manic Monday...

I am so glad to see this past weekend off! The awesome stomach virus invaded my house and wiped everyone out. For the record...DON'T COME BACK! This weekend was supposed to be Sofia's awesome 3rd birthday weekend. I feel like she totally got slighted! She did get her birthday party which I will post about later!

On a good note...

Remember me talking about the super cute birthday shirt? Well, I had a minor revelation while sewing. Kid's t-shirts are the worst to monogram because they never fit around the hoop. A friend had mentioned something about cutting the side of a kid's t-shirt to make it easier to monogram. So- I decided to give it a try. What the heck! 

I cut the right past the normal seam on the side towards the back. I don't really know why I chose that side, but it worked! I cut from the bottom all the way to where the arm is sewed on. Then I appliqued the shirt.....and it was oh so easy not fighting with shirt the whole time! 

When I finished the appliqué, I sewed a simple zig zag stitch from the arm hole side back down to the edge. After that, I sewed a straight stitch back over the zig-zag for good measures. 

This is her cutie patootie birthday shirt! I tried and tried to get a pic of her wearing it.....but Sofie doesn't cooperate when it comes to pics. Maybe next time!
